Now with the internet, it is probably hard for someone to think of newspaper delivery but for only 20 years ago it was all there was and papers had advertising spots. If you look closely at the companies that deliver papers today as a business case study; you will learn that newspaper publishers hire reporters, writers, and other important staff to create the contents of the paper and deliver the papers to their readers. The same goes for the production of a magazine.

In addition to what is mentioned above, the publishers had and/or have to regularly invest in heavy-duty machinery. They also had to invest in tons of papers, for printing large amounts of newspapers and magazine on a daily basis.

The answer to that is – selling advertising spaces! If you pick up a copy of a paper I know you have definitely seen lots of advertisements in the newspaper. You also find lots of advertisements in magazines. The publisher sells advertising space in the papers and magazines to advertisers who want to leverage their advertising efforts on the paper’s or magazines high readership.

On the flip side, you can make money the exact same way from your online newsletter by simply selling advertising space to prospective advertisers!

Say you have a mailing list that exceeds 1,000 subscribers (5,000 is recommended) and beyond, you can start selling advertising space for say, $5.00 – $10.00 per sponsor ad.
